The HYROAD NANO is a new development of the longest running ball on the market, the original HYROAD which is now in an unprecedented ninth year. This new release features the same Inverted FE Technology core as in all the other balls in the “road” series. As in all the other products Storm has produced with this same proven weight block, any favorite layout is sure to produce exactly what you’re looking for. This is the hallmark characteristic of a true benchmark ball.
On the HYROAD
NANO the
coverstock
provides all the
difference in
this new
release.
The cover
is the NRG Solid
Reactive, first
introduced in
the VIRTUAL
GRAVITY NANO.
As Storm
describes it,
Nano technology
is essentially
“manufacturing
with atoms”
giving bowlers
“increased oil
traction due to
the
micro-dynamic
enhancements of
the surface.”
The
HYROAD motion
both midlane and
downlane has
been popular and
effective for so
many bowlers for
so long that
there was a
strong desire to
bring that same
motion into the
environment of
the heavier and
more viscous
oils that have
come into use in
recent years
particularly on
the PBA Tour.
Nano
technology
accomplishes
that.
For a layout on
my HYROAD NANO I
went with my
standard and
favorite high
pin layout.
The specs
are 55 x 5.25 x
45.
In short, this
ball with this
coverstock is
strong!
In my
first outing
with it on a
typical STL
hooking house
shot I had to
get to the fifth
arrow in order
to get the ball
to see enough
volume and
retain enough
energy to go
through the pins
effectively.
Several
other bowlers,
even some with
far more hand
and far more
ball speed than
I have, have
noticed the same
thing.
This
strong cover
definitely needs
a great deal of
volume to
prevent the ball
from burning up
and being pretty
much DOA at the
pocket.
Polishing the
cover has made a
significant
difference for
many who have
tried it.
Lifelong
friend, ball
driller, and
multiple time
PBA Regional
champion, Rich
Orf, polished
his and had
great results
with it during
this year’s
Holiday Doubles
tournament,
averaging well
into the 240’s
for the weekend
on an STL house
shot that had
become really
cliffed.
I have
not adjusted the
surface of mine
because I have
other options
that will work
just fine for
the little bit
of league
bowling I do
around town.
The
HYROAD NANO will
definitely be in
my bag this
summer when I
head out for the
PBA50 Summer
Swing through
the Midwest!
PBA Hall of Famer
and Storm PBA
Tour ball rep,
Del Ballard,
always famously
said: “Every
lane eventually
comes to a
HYROAD.”
With this
new release
Storm says “the
NRG cover on the
HYROAD NANO
controls the
midlane more
than the
original HYROAD.
The lane
always comes to
a HYROAD.
Now it
comes to it even
sooner.”
If a
bowler is
looking for the
best and longest
running
benchmark ball
motion on the
market with the
capacity to
handle heavy,
heavy volume
then the HYROAD
NANO certainly
won’t
disappoint.
